Frozen still from creeping dread

I can’t sleep right in the bed

I can see it from the corner of my eye,
Following me, devouring me in its mind!
As I try to run away from danger I can sense that
It is ready to attack me when I’m blind!

I could avoid the demon but that would lead to war;
I take the elevator to reach the fourteenth floor...

Standing on the deck, staring into blue openness
Thinking atrocities from madness
As the winds are picking up and the cold is getting worse in excess
I give into my newfound deafness

How can loneliness be so damn reassuring?
Why is such a simple view so mysteriously alluring?
This deep blue is tempting me to just start swimming
And escape my reality, because those lights are dimming

I poured my heart and soul into that
Hand-written book she’s holding
Thinking my words to be so clever and the
Poetry moving
